Vertical Endeavour is gearing up towards...well...gear. It is evident from the forum that much interest in outdoor equipment exists within the community and naturally gear is a very relevant topic for those venturing into the mountains. And so we’d like to gear this site towards more gear talk!

For starters, there is now a dedicated forum category for gear. Blog topics on gear will also make an appearance soon.  And we are always looking for ways of improving and extending the features of the site to make it even better, more interactive and more informative.

To make things even more interesting, Cape Union Mart has sent us some new gear for testing. Reviews will be written on these items and published over the next few weeks. Watch for these on the blogs and let us have your comments! This project will open up an exciting new avenue for interaction between equipment manufacturers such as Cape Union Mart and the VE community. Thanks to all the contribution and interest by members on various topics, and all those very technical and precise “likes” and “don’t likes”, our community is a well established force in the use and evaluation of outdoor gear. There are many possibilities along this avenue which promise to be very interesting and rewarding, so stay tuned!

My thanks go to all members of this site for making it what it is. Your contribution, interaction, interest in the Berg, gear, and even in each other’s activities in the mountains, has a shaped a special community. Keep it up!
