On her second attempt at the Grand Traverse record, completed on Sunday the 10th of Januray, 2010, Christine Harris established a new womans speed record.

A personal account of the Grand Traverse Record event of 17-20 December 2008 in which the ten year old record was finally beaten in a new time of 3 days, 9 hours and 52 minutes.

An attempt at breaking the speed record of the Grand Traverse was aborted at Organ Pipes Pass due to the first major snowfall in the Drakensberg of the season. The group attempting the record took shelter in one of the Ndumeni Caves and were rescued by helicopter the following morning.
