TOPIC: Summit books/record

Summit books/record 26 Oct 2007 16:54 #9

Hi all, I have been reading "Serpent Spires" which describes various climbs in the Berg. It would seem that, on many summits, there is a book which is signed by the select few who get to the top.
Can anyone confirm if this is the case on most technical climbs ? Where is the book kept, in a cairn ? Do people record details of their route etc ?

I do know that summit logs are kept, but I'm unsure as to exactly how many of the technical peaks have them. They are kept somewhere securely in water-tight boxes.

It's one of the few places that one can leave something like that without it being stolen by the Basuthos!
