TOPIC: Snow Watch 2010

Re:Snow Watch 2010 27 Mar 2010 16:29 #1024

Can anyone tell me about the conditions in the Berg this time of year? I was hot in my summer bag when out there for the first time in January, and my only other option is a warm winter bag...suggestions?

Hey ClimbyKel, I was in the Berg last weekend camping in a valley at around 2000m, night temperatures were around 6°C. My lightweight sleeping bag was ok, but just bear in mind that minimum temperatures start dropping quite sharply from now on. Also if you're going to high altitude, night temperatures will already be approaching freezing. Oh, and dont forget your sunblock, days are still pretty hot!

Haven't heard anything and I don't think there has been anything significant.

PS: in case you're wondering, I merged the original thread into this one, to consolidate all the snow discussions this year.
