TOPIC: Basutho Kraal waypoints

Basutho Kraal waypoints 28 Jul 2011 12:27 #3446

Hi,

Does anyone have pinpoints for the kraals in the berg ? I saw one post a while ago with a few on, but can't seem to find it again ...

I have played around in Google Earth quick and have marked several Kraals, would anyone be interested in verifying this and I can then upload the KMZ ?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Kragbees

It might have been my info. I visually scoped and logged a couple of kraals above cockade pass on GE. I have not done this for other areas, it is too time consuming, i only did it because i was going to hike up the pass.

Hi ST,

Yes I'm sure it was your info, I've now marked approx. 14 kraals, and can make it available for anyone via .GPX on request. I will continue to "browse" the berg and mark more when I have time.

How does one upload to the site, should intrepid do this ?

Also, very impressed with your new book, congrats ! What do you shoot with ? Canon/Nikon ?

Hi Kragbees

The only way i am familiar with is just to email the kmz files from google earth that you have mapped and saved to interested parties.

Thanx for compliments. The book was all shot on nikon film and digital gear, however most of the big landscape images in the book were shot on a pentax 67ii which is a medium format film camera 6x7cm worth of film real estate. Still better than digital in my opinion.

Nice ... so I take it there's no HDR images in the book ? Because it's some serious nice colours coming out ... just wondering.

I've got a Nikon D7000 with a couple of lenses, nothing professional.

No hdr, which i find a bit over the top, it just does not look real. The saturation and contrast i will play around with a bit, but if you get good light on the subject it usually pops pretty much on its own without user intervention.
