Does anyone know if there is a DEM (digital elevation model) Topo map for the drakensberg area ?

Which mapping software is good to use?, I use Garmin Basecamp with google earth.. Umm, not sure but it feels a little pointy and clicky..

Final question, Does anyone have the GPS tracks data from Injasuti basecamp (camp terrain/resort) to the bottom of Leslie's pass ?

I got horribly lost on this route (without GPS) and got stuck in a living hell of knee high tall grass at 60 degrees inclines with no visibility, took a fall lost my backpack

I think Injasuti don't suffer idiots gladly in general

Have heard talk about it, don't think it exists yet. Its inevitable that it will be available in the future.

That's about as good as it gets currently (Garmin Topo, Waypoint manager and viewing in on Google Earth). I've also messed around with TIFF images of the government survey maps in Arcview. Then there's also Ozi Explorer.

Have got this, just bear with me until I get a gap to prepare it and upload it.

Ok, I saw the "Show 3D view" mode on my GPS and got all exited till it reckoned my map doesn't have enough elevation data

Thank you very much Chris, I'll be using this very soon. Also thanks for updating leslie's pass tracks with the marble baths route. Ill be heading to Thabana tomorrow, so hope to post pics soon. Hi all, I found a Drakensberg "map set" on Track 4 Africa under their Special Maps section. It a free down load and works on the Garmin map software. The person who is doing it , Johan Cloete, has put it together with gps data and scaned path data. You can load the map onto your gps and it will super impose the data over the topo or other maps you have on your gps. He is currently working on a new version as he gets gps data send in from other hikers, he updates the path data.
