Keep thinking it is Rhino Peak more from the North than usual.

Bit of a wild guess, is it not that pinnacle on the Ncedamabutho Ridge that Intrepid and co. recently climbed?

Hi Dillon, in truth, when I took the image I thought that it was! So we'll have to give that one to you! In reality, it is probably 2 pinnacles down from that one. But that is a very good guess! This one sits on the same ridge, but closer to the Inner Mnweni Needle.

Well done!

Yes the peak in question is definitely further to the right, and also much higher. Biomech's photo shows the grassy neck which we used to access the ridge from the other side, after which we flipped over into the Nqeda. Bivvy spots where just down from the neck on both sides on the 2 nights before and after the climb.

This shot gives the sense of scale. Black arrow is what seems to be in Biomech's photo, and probably most of what we are seeing is the shoulder beneath the actual summit. Orange arrow is the neck, blue arrow is the peak we climbed.

Intrepid is 100% correct in the placing of the peak in the image I posted. It seems hilarious that the effort it took to get to the base of Mponjwane from where I took that pic was great when looking at how little distance it really was! I recall at one stage the GPS of one of us showed that we were 1.2km from Mponjwane Cave as the crow flies and 1.1km vertically!

Ah, I've never been there before. It is still on my to-hike list, I will look out for it when I go there one day...

No responses for a week - not sure if this thread has gone quite or you all think this is simply the Knuckles.

So here's a clue: it is not the Knuckles. Not even close
