a couple of small tips to add for cold snowy conditions.. take 2 ski poles/ hiking poles to limit the risk of stepping in holes and breaking an ankle / waterproof gloves are good for preventing wet, disfunctional hands (or at least woolen gloves which function when wet) / don't leave out your water bottles as they freeze and you can't drink (water filters must be kept warm inside your clothing or they stop working forever) and take a mini absorbant towel to dry condensation off before it drips on your sleeping bag
