cool, i'm hopefully heading to Sehlabathebe this weekend.
It looks like the cold front was a bit overrated though, the passes in Eastern Cape are being closed for heavy rains, not snowfalls.

got this pic this morning from my folks who are in the Cathkin area.

Sorry about the lousy quality, got it via MMS, but it looks like light snow down to about 2000m. Probably won't be around too long, but might be a nice dump up top.

Yesterday morning presented the first clear satellite shot of the latest snow. The afternoon shot showed a rapidly receding cover. The spine of the Dragon got well covered, but the tail around Xalanga once again got a lot more snow. Mountains further down in the Eastern Cape also got snow, but not much in Lesotho this time.

Hey guys - we just got back from our trip today. Waking up at Ledger's on Monday morning with a beautifully clear day and no snow was a little disappointing...

... but it was seriously cold and when the clouds came over as we were heading over behind the Saddle, the snow began B)

It snowed lightly all day and by the time we reached Twins cave in the afternoon there was a good covering of about 10cm.

With the weather dawning clear again the next morning, we decided to take on the Bell Traverse anyway. Twas a little more sketchy than anticipated, with fresh powder covering all the scrambles (about knee-deep in Bugger Gulch Gully). Spectacular views though and well worth the slow, cautious progress. Will post photos later in the week.

ST2, it looks like the Champagne Castle area got a pretty heavy dump so your South Gully may be in condition after a few freeze-thaw cycles.

Awesome Stijn, I figured you guys were enjoying the snow. Look forward to those pics. Looks like all the guys heading to the Berg this weekend (several from this forum) might get more snow (I think that will be snowfall No 4 for the season) - please take picture too guys.

We've been wondering how much snow you encountered, sounds like a great trip! This is my first winter in SA, and so I haven't done my first winter hike in the Berg yet. Planning for a weekend in August though. Anyone have some hints or advise for me? I froze my little Canadian butt occasionally during my last hike in April.
