This is the thread for the next round of photo competitions. The theme is Summer Mist. Entries should be photos which depict the mist that is very characteristic of summer.

Photos should be uploaded to the following album:

Guidelines for the competition:
* Give your entry a creative title which adds to the appeal of the image.
* When you have uploaded your entry, post a downscaled copy of your image to this thread, together with your title, and a link to the image, as well as a description of where the shot was taken from, and the story behind the photograph.
* Photos do not need to be limited to the actual time period for the competition.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Are more than one entry per person allowed?, I have two photos's and I can't decide which one to enter.

The late afternoon sun from behind lit up the mist swirling up from below while the storm clouds threatened over SA.

After narrowing it down to 18, then to 11, I finally just took one. This photo was taken on the same day as a few firsts:
1) My first day on the Drakensberg escarpment
2) My first time being close to the Lesotho border (I don't think the Rhino Peak trail ever crosses the border)
3) My first High Berg Pass
4) My first khulu
5) My first case of being lost in the mist (and no - I wasn't leading the hike)

The photo is called "Misty Beginnings" - taken just past Pillar Cave as the mist began to roll in:

If anyone is interested, I would be happy to share some of my other contenders.

Funny enough - this photo was taken on a 2MP cellphone camera. No editing has been done between the original shot and the attached - including no cropping.

I don't mind flexible rules at this point, but we do want to get a sponsor for these competitions so that there are real prizes. When we get that far the rules are going to have to be well developed and clear, and at that stage double entries will not be allowed - so may as well stick to that for now too.

I have fixed Jax's and ghaznavid's entries. The relevant album should be available now in the upload form - had to tweak some permission issues.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

This one was taken on Keartlands Pass on our way to Zulu Cave earlier this year. Misty all the way up but cleared up beautifully just as we passed Blindman's corner.
