OK I found one to throw in. It was taken on the recent VE Berg trip 6, the view being the valley leading down into Makhulumane Forest, Monk's Cowl. It was completely burned. The trail going down has been forged mostly by smugglers, and is generally quite steep and in bad condition in places. This distinctly bowl-shaped valley had left a strange, lonely impression on me on a previous visit. For some reason, which is difficult to describe, it has a somber and lonely mood for me. Returning this time the feeling was enhanced by the burn which had left everything looking very black. I have thus named this shot "The Valley of Desolation".

The recent Photo posted by Intrepid reminded me of a Visit at Mnweni at a time when fires were at it's peak. I was Hiking with my Boys and we had fun seeing how the flames were alive devouring everything yet at the same time careful not to be caught off guard. In a nick of time flames would shoot up and the heat unbearable. It also made for some interesting night time shots.

CLOUDS OF SMOKE
On the 26/09/2015 we were returning from a hike up to both the Hodgson's Peaks. When we got to the contour path at the bottom of the Giant's Cup a veld fire burnt across our path. Once we were a safe distance from the fire we took a break.
