Snow Watch 2020 was created by JonWells
This is the official thread for Snow Watch 2020. Feel free to post pictures, information, questions and reports about the snow conditions in the Drakensberg for 2020. The idea is to keep track of the snowfalls, pool information about where the snow is for those that want to go see it, and simply to have a place to express the joy and experiences you may have had if you have witnessed the grandeur of the Dragon clothed in white. This also serves as a historical reference for years to come.

Well, there has been some light but widespread snow across most of the range over the past 24hrs, with confirmed falls on the peaks at Tiffindell, Bushman's Nek, and as far North as Afriski. Let's hope this continues and that 2020 is a great snow season!

The satellite image of 14 May 2020 shows a snowfall on the Leqheku to Thaba- Chitja plateau area of the central berg (near Giants). Snowfall would have been on Wed 13 May when very light snowfalls were also reported from the Afriski region (but only settled for a short duration there).

I wouldnt get your hopes up guys...  At this stage the KZN Berg is not expecting any snow, only a very sharp drop in temperature.

Very light snow is possible over Western Lesotho, and possibly some reasonable snow limited to Tiffindell region.

Some pretty interesting temperatures on the way for Thabana Ntlenyana!
