Got a nice close up on another "transvaal grass lizard" on the path from Boundary Pools at Injesuthi, now that I know what they are I am a bit braver with getting close for the macro shot.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Injisuthi seems to be a good area for them.

I've seen berg adders in the Mnweni,Cathedral Peak, Champagne Castle and Injisuti areas...usually see one at least once a trip. Most of my sightings have been at an altitude at or above 2200m. I've even seen one basking on a rock in the middle of a snow field above 3000m at Bokong in Lesotho in July, a day after a heavy snow fall!
Many people often think they have seen a "baby" berg adder, however as far as I know the average size for these snakes is under 30cm, much smaller in size than puff adders. None of the specimens I've seen have been over 30cm in length.
