THABA-TSEKA, 15 February 2011 (IRIN) - From a distance, the fields of maize that cover almost every hillside in Lesotho’s Thaba-Tseka District look green and lush. On closer inspection, the plants have a sickly yellowish hue and the heads of corn that should be ripening in time for the April harvest are nowhere to be seen.

This is very sad news for the people living in these areas. The knock on effect though will likely make the security situation for hikers slightly more insecure. The La nina effect is very pronounced this year and earthquakes also seem to be increasing in their impact on us, the earth is certainly changing.

Yup I feel this will be having an effect on the hikers which is sad indeed to both parties.

but...

The end is coming & the signs are showing up more & more... earthquakes, floods, wars / crimes etc.

I think its a sad situation for a forgotten little country that already struggles so much already. Anyone know of trustworthy organisations working there that one could support?
