Unfortunately as things stand I will only be in the berg again at the end of the month.
I am however going to Origin climbing festival at Umgeni Valley this weekend. Looking forward to watching some people send routes in the 30's.
For those hitting the berg, stay warm and stay safe.

VE Berg Trip 6 is scheduled for 27-29 June 2015. We will be at Monk's Cowl, and will likely be focusing on the Mhlwazini Valley from around Eagle Gorge up to Keith Bush Camp. We will also be following up on our very first pine tree site which we did in 2011 (the trees you see in the river bed below Gatberg on the way to KBC).
Anyone that is interested is welcome to join, just send me a PM.

Anyone keen for a hike this weekend or have a hike I can tag along with?
I haven't been to the escarpment since 2 May and am suffering some severe withdrawal symptoms

I am thinking of doing a 3 day hike in the Cathedral Peak area next weekend. Plan on leaving Midrand on Friday 7 Aug (probably at around 3pm'ish), sleeping over at the Didima campsite and then start the hike early Saturday morning. Not quite sure which pass I want to use to ascend the escarpment, but planning on sleeping somewhere at the top on Sat evening, hike Northwards on Sunday sleeping over in easter/Twins cave and then go down the Bell Traverse on Monday (public holiday) and drive back home, hopefully getting back before sunset.

Ok Guys,
Lets finalise by say Wednesday i.t.o. who is coming and the route. Please pm me your thoughts on how to go up to the escarpment (I.e. which pass to go up with). We'll ascend to the top of the escarpment in one day so your fitness levels needs to be at this level - we don't need to race up but I would prefer if we get there well before dark. The next day will be fairly easy to Easter/Twins cave, and the last day will also be easy, except for the exposure levels on the first stretch till we get to Cathedral Peak
