A new Grand Traverse speed record of 61 hours, 24 minutes and 11 seconds, was set by Andrew Porter on 18 December, 2009.
This shaves about 20 hours off the record set by Stijn Laenen and Andrew Hagen a year ago, when a very long-standing record of 10 years was finally beaten.Andrew has had several attempts on the record and has managed to get a little further each time. Setting off on Wednesday, December 16th at 4am, he finally managed to complete a solo attempt at breaking the record by reaching the Bushman’s Neck border post on Friday.
From Vertical Endeavour we wish to extend our congratulations to Andrew on his remarkable achievement and perseverance!
