Haai fellow hikers!
Thanks for a wonderful site! I am so glad I found this.
On my very first trip to the Drakensberg with some pals last weekend we took a hike in the little berg. This was about 4 hours walking from the car park. Jong I was tired hey!
Anyway later in the afternoon, we had just finished our bath in the river (don’t worry we used biodegradable soap) and were walking back to our tent when we passed some Graffiti on some rocks. Someone had painted a bunch of people and animals all over the rocks.
Now this type of vandalism really makes me mad.
It must be these locals living nearby or the thiefs from Lesotho. These guys have no appreciation of the environment. Who else will paint graffiti on the rock? The same guys probably shoot rhinos as well.
Anyway, my friends and I decided to do the right thing and we clean the graffiti off the rock using water and smaller rocks of the same type to scrub off the paint. We managed to get almost all of it off and it now looks like a rock again.
Here is a picture of some of the graffiti before
And here is one of the pics of after
It feels good to make a positive contribution to the environment!
Groete,
Jan

Definitely an April fools joke. Now what I want to know is whether or not klimjan is a VE regular under a pseudonym or not...

A few years ago Intrepid posted that the Tooth at RNNP had collapsed after a landslide. The post was done on April Fools, but wasn't removed afterwards. So around 6 months later (the post was from before I joined) I found the fact that this fact was not publicised to be rather odd...
Personally I would have gone with "the cable car site has been moved to Lotheni, to summit the south side of Giant's Castle. They will be building an accompanying road from the top to Mokhotlong"...

Seems kind of fitting - here is the most random fact that any of you will read in your entire life (and feel free to check up on this fact, it is true):
There is only one country on earth that has none of the letters of the words "April Fools" in it. That country is Yemen.
I challenge you to find a fact more random than the above...
