Looking for DGT partners – Late August 2026

Hi everyone! My name is Pol, I'm from Spain and currently living in Germany. I'm planning to hike the Drakensberg Grand Traverse around the end of August 2026. My current plan is to start around 27–28 August, but I'm happy to be flexible with the dates if it means joining an existing group. I have previous multi-day trekking experience in the Alps and other long-distance hikes, and I'll be carrying all my own gear. I'll be based in Johannesburg before the hike.

I'm also looking for:
- Information on how to arrange a food resupply at Bannerman Pass (I'd be happy to share the costs).
- Someone willing to lend or sell second-hand the Slingsby Drakensberg hiking maps and/or any useful guidebooks while I'm in South Africa.

Hi everyone! It’s me again.

Since no one replied to my previous post, I decided to go ahead and make my own plans. I’ve now booked a guide named Caiphus, whose contact I found through a Grand Traverse Instagram post.

I’ll be starting the Drakensberg Grand Traverse on Saturday, 29 August, from Phuthaditjhaba, and I’m planning to complete it in 12 days, finishing at Bushman’s Nek Pass on Wednesday, 9 September.

If anyone is planning to do the DGT around the same time and would like to join, you’re very welcome!

We could also share the costs of the guide, transport, and any other expenses.
