Hi,

Anyone know if it is possible to order these maps without physically going to the Land Administration Authority offices in Maseru?

Any help appreciated :)

Thanks

Have you tried phoning them and asking them what they can do?

I got a bunch of maps through someone who was going through to Maseru once. Was just a matter of co-ordinating.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

yes, have phoned them, they are willing to courier but only to someone with a "DHL Account" ... haven't investigated getting one yet.

Try PMB maps and Laminating in PMB
Chat to Brian on 033 342-5580.
He has them digitally and he will print off for you.

This topic has caused me to do some looking at some maps of Lesotho. I had never really looked at the river structure of Lesotho - but the direction of the Orange river makes the shape of the ridges on the escarpment make a lot more sense.

Seeing as it is roughly 40km to get from the top of Mzimude Pass to the Orange River - if one was to hike up Rockeries Pass, follow the Senqu/Orange for a week or so and hike up the Mzimude river to the escarpment edge it could probably make a pretty epic hike. Basically a GT in deep Lesotho.

I'm starting to wonder if its not worth spending a few days wondering around the valleys deep in Lesotho. By Mzimude Pass the Orange River is around 1800m (per GE), so with the relatively rapid rise to the escarpment it should be quite scenic.

I'd definitely be keen on a hike similar to the one you outlined:)

We did a Minny version of this in September, ie: up rockeries, down the senqu valley for about 25km, then backtrack at bit and down Ntonjelana (except we decide to skip Ntonjelana and go back down rockeries because we wanted to checkout Ledges cave).

Really love the scenery in Lesotho!

I'll email you - could be fun to do a recon hike in some random valley in Lesotho some time and work towards a Orange River traverse

Anyone else keen?
