A pom3. That would also be good.

@plouw: That sounds funky. Offhand I can think that one can create it using Flash (any Flash boffins out there?), or by simply placing HTML link over an image, just that one has to work out the exact co-ordinates on the image for placing the various links. It also takes a lot of time, so if its driven and maintained by someone like you with the vision for it - fantastic.

@Frosty: get a thread going in the Climbing category. You may want to check with the modern day climbing pioneers that have opened up lots of Berg routes, like Gavin Peckham and Paul Fatti, I'm sure they could list a few. I'm interested in a long gully/chimney on the face of ka Ntuba Buttress, next to ka Ntuba Pass - not sure if its been climbed.

Right, I have started a "Featured Images" category in the Drakensberg gallery:
www.vertical-endeavour.com/gallery/drakensberg/featured-images/oct-dec-2010.html

In it is a sub-category for the first POM3 period, October 2010 - December 2010. Let the games begin!

Hi Intrepid

Lets see what happens with this. It will be interesting to see if it can inspire some good photography from those on the forum.

I am sure that I speak for all of the forum when I say thank you for all the hard work, time and effort that you put into the site, looking after its architecture and providing your valuable input.

Thanks for this.

Karl

These are really great ideas guys, and I'm looking forward to seeing them in action. I've been keen to see a regular gear review. It's something I'd like to help keep rolling.

Thank you for your kind words. Its all totally worth it when there is an active community that uses it.

I've started a thread to help promote and facilitate the featured images project:
www.vertical-endeavour.com/forum/14-drakensberg-general/1912-featured-berg-images-oct-dec-2010.html

And this thread caters for discussion on unclimbed routes in the Berg:

This sounds great. Well done Intrepid for engineering this, and for all the input from everyone. Sorry I have been a little out of it recently. Trying times call for some pretty dire measures. Work keeps me continually busy, often till the wee hours looking at development applications (for my sins I got the lion's share of Richards Bay applications!).

I really need to haul my gear out, which has been sitting in my cupboard since 2007, and get out there and take some pics to submit, since historical pics will not be counted!!! :P

Keep this thread going guys. We love your input!

I would be happy about submitting historical pics, just not sure what the forum thinks about it? Any input on this?

Perhaps historical images should be allowed at least for now. It will help get the project off the ground. Once the thing has gained momentum one can make the rules stricter and maybe even the periods shorter.

Agreed! Yay!!! Means I can submit some of mine, until I have arranged to get away from the office long enough to actually have a meaningful hike in my mountains!
