Here are some highlights of what is in store for the year:
- First quarter will see the third major software overhaul of the site. This brings a new look and feel, and several improvements, along with it.
- The Pine Tree Project will kick into a higher gear with a defined, joint-project plan in the Monks Cowl area. More info to follow at a later point in time.
- There will probably be two VE Berg trips this year, one relatively early in the year (related to the above), and the other in the second half.
- Unfortunately we didn't get the hoped-for interaction from local gear manufacturers in 2012, but we will continue to consider ways to enhance information and discussion on gear.
- All annual threads (like Snow Watch) will be renewed for 2013. The quaterly photo competions should also resume. For these I am pleased with the number of participants, though I'd like to see the number of voters increase. We can also hopefully get this to a place where the prize is a little more tangible.
- Experimental/New features under consideration: interactive Berg map with info and photos, Wiki, mobile friendly version (or mobile app) of the forum. Some of these may not make it onto the scene.
Here's to a great year for everyone! I look forward to reading many more stories of what everyone else is getting up to in the Berg. One of the things I've particularly enjoyed about 2012 is the surge in personal accounts of Berg trips being posted on the forum. This is great, keep this up!
