I have a number of Trail Designs www.traildesigns.com/ integral custom alcohol stove kits with Titanium pot in the caldera series. R2000
Each stove kit is designed for one pot only. The pot fits in the wind screen making a tight seal, and the windscreen supports it. The stove uses alcohol (in SA meths) and there is one included, though other designs of stove may be more efficient.
There are many advantages to alcohol. People argue that alcohol has the least "bang" for the weight (lowest kJ energy per g) compared to butane, propane and white gasoline / Coleman fuel (benzine in many countries and naptha in SA). While this is true, alcohol does not require pressurization and therefore no metal canister and no pump is carried. The stove is aluminum (the coke can stove) and weighs just 10g. Further, if one comes out the way one goes in, one can stash alcohol plastic fuel bottles on the way in.
Further, alcohol burns fine cold or hot, high or low. Best, alcohol burns clean. In 15 years my alcohol stoves have never failed even once. The integral windscreens are amazingly protective even in high winds.
People also argue that alcohol cannot be turned off. It can - simply place your pot directly on the stove (if the stove is a central burner, and Integral Designs' are. There are side burners made by others, but I assume they also will go out once starved of oxygen.). WAIT. The stove is boiling hot. When it is cool you can recover your unburnt fuel.
I will post more in the coming days.
1-3 are complete integrated custom systems. The pots are all 500ml-850ml size.
I put together
1. EV50 Caldera Cone with 500ml pot. It is an aluminum screen and damaged (works perfectly) so I'll drop the price. The pot is an Evernew Titanium 500ml with lid. This is definitely a minimalist solo hiker's system. R800
2. 850ml Titanium pot with teflon coating and lid, Titanium screen (much harder than Aluminum). Tri-Ti system, but with no extras - stove and screen. The pot came from Titanium Goat. R1200
3. Tri-ti complete with all extras with MSR 850ml Titanium pot, lid. So this has the ability to burn wood as well. I had to leave the esbit solid fuel behind. R2000
4. Orphan Ti Pot (no stove) with lid 850ml R500.
Kelty Sartori 5750 (cubic inches) Reg (17-19" (43-49cm) torso) backpack
5750 cu in (huge - 94 liters) but superlite (spectra) with Kelty's famous lightbeam frame
Expedition pack - Can carry 50-75lb (20-35kg)
Black, never used, still with tags. Kelty's lifetime warranty.
R3000
I have used Kelty's cloud packs (same pack, of white Kevlar) for decades, I swear by them. Extreme comfort even when hauling huge loads. Never show any signs of wear. I hate to let this one go, but I bought it for an Africa trip that I cancelled due to lack of funds.
