Hi guys im doing a 5 day hike starting this weekend. Planning on buying a new backpack. The one i have in mind currently is the first ascent jupiter 65+ 10 pack.
first ascent jupiter
Has anyone used this bag before or can suggest something in that price range ( +- R2000)
that might be a better option?

Check out the Deuter Act lite range.. I think that they are more comfortable, lighter and offer better value. Osprey is even better if you can get a Kestrel at a good price or Black Diamond Vault is very good value too.
City Rock has great gear at decent prices or look at Mountainmailorder.co.za
You can do a lot better than FA...

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.
Totally agree with ASL's sentiments here. I have not had any experience with FA packs, but then again they are very new on the scene (which might be an additional problem). When I saw them in the shop a while back what struck me is that the pack is a bit too complex and bulky for my liking - that does boil down to preference though. Deuter ACT Lite definitely beats FA though, just from the weight of the pack alone (prices are comparable). Note that Deuter AirContact is a heavier and more expensive range. Deuter is a very solid, international brand that has been around for long while. One of my packs is an old-style Deuter ACT Lite 40+10 (has more volume than the rating suggests) which is a very hard working pack. Material durability is very good (better than my Osprey). The only thing is that I have a red one and over the years it is turning a pit pink due to bleaching from the sun.

Oh sorry, I got confused between the Osprey Volt and the BD Stone pack which is only a 45l bag (awesome design)...

The osprey products also have a no questions lifetime warranty on returns.
Not sure how much fine print is involved or if it's been tested yet...

fyi... I'm really impressed with the weight of the Volt 75l! It's 1.7kg which is amazing for that capacity

I see that MrPSport has packs in stock again.
www.mrpsport.com/en_za/jump/OUTDOOR/Bags/subcategory/cat1240213/cat1240055
Saw them today, they look alright, and seem light enough, very affordable.
Not an endorsement, as I know nothing about the packs, so to quote my friend, caveat emptor.
If anyone has any experience with these, would be interesting to know.
