Those of you that use thermometers... which are best, are accurate, are inexpensive and where to get them

I see Outdoor Warehouse has a Waeco for R180, any experiences with this? I'm sure there are plenty on the market though

I am using this "Game" special from the auto section, has a few meters of cable and a sensor which can be placed outside the tent / cave to give inside and outside temps, it is small and light and has done quite a few trips now with no problem. I remove the small battery between trips.

Sorry the quality is not too good, everything fogged up from the cold!!

I also have the Game one, does the job, but I find they dont normally last more than about 2yrs. At around R150 it wont break the bank though.

I have also experienced a similar type thermometer totally failing at -10°C, so I always take a small analogue thermometer as a backup. Think I paid R15 from my local tobacconist!

One thing to note if you are using a digital one with a sensor, the sensor needs to be about a metre off the ground so that the air temperature is measured and not the ground temperature (which is around 4°C colder than the air)
