I have a Backpacker Boulder from 1995 that I use for day climbing trips, for the walk-in. The straps and padding are very worn out though and the adjustments need constant tightening while I walk. I use it so that I dont wear out my other packs which I use for longer trips. The only piece of older gear that I still actively use on hikes and other trips that I haven't retired or ripped up is a set of thermal underwear from Cape Union (pre K-Way) dating back to 1998.
I also have a Simond Chacal ice tool/hammer which I think dates back well into the eighties. I'm not the original owner though. Its a solid axe with a lot of life left in it. My mountain buddy in Canada still uses a mountaineering axe with a wooden shaft, dating back to the seventies!

There seem to be a lot of BackPacker and original Karrimor Backpacks still doing service out in the mountains! My own 60l BackPacker Canyon circa 1988, was originally bought by my mom and is only a year younger than its current owner! Haven't found a modern pack which is quite as tough or comfortable when carrying big loads. Pity, as it is coming up for retirement after finally developing some hard to repair wear and tear.

@mykitchin, I can recommend Deuter packs, consider them when you start looking.

My oldest items, still used on occasions, bought in the 1970's would be:
A Daimor Monk pure goose and duck down sleeping bag (1.4kg and managed -13 degrees last June)
Another three-quarter down sleeping bag - occasionally used by others
Ridgeline A-frame small 2-man tent (first with fly-sheet and before dome tents) - base tenting now
Camp Trails external H-frame pack (first with padded hip-belt) - occasionally used by others
2 X Coleman Feather benzine cookers - few parts needed over time, but still burning strong
2 X 500ml Pots from the Globetrotter Gaz stove
Small alcohol thermometer
Other items, still used on occasions, bought in the 1980's:
My Backpacker Boulder - faded and well-worn, but still working
Three other Boulders bought from a friend who moved to Britian - occasionally used by others
2 Billycan sets of 2&half,1&half,1 litre - bought in the 1980's

I still use my backpacker boulder 75l. I recently bought my girlfriend the new backpacker boulder. Most new packs dont have the pouches on the sides(which I like), like the boulder always had.
The pack is about 18 years old now, and although a little tired, it is still more than useable (in fact I used it last weekend for a hike to stable cave). I am however, thinking of possibly buying myself a new boulder (a different colour to my girlfriends one, of course).
In addition to the pack, I am still using my old jim green boots, which are about 17 years old. Aside from being retread once, there is nothing wrong with them.
My backpacker sleeping bag is also quite old, but not as old as my boots+pack.
Local is lekka?

Maybe this thread needs a booster.
I still today use my old mans Boulder 85 L. It used to be an ego thing and i could handle the pain on my back. now i only use it when i am taking the Mrs and two boys 6&8 for overnighters. To carry the kitchen sink... The zippers on the iconic side pouches are battling and the padding on the hips are toast. i also have two Karrimore 65's that i am trying to fit into and will hand the 85er to my boys when they are enter ego prime to carry my stuff.
