If you're on a budget the energizer headlamps have come a long way. When we are camped we use only the red light to reduce the chance of being seen and once your eyes have adjusted to the dark this is ample light for the evening, not to mention saving battery power.

I like the weight, and the fact that it uses 2 batteries, makes things much easier if using rechargeables......
Mainly for camp use/cooking etc.
