You can try DuPont. They are very helpful on the phone.
Another potential is Gelvenor. I see their website is down but I have one or two contacts which may still be active so let me know and I'll DM you. They make the fabric for the army's sleeping bags, the council workers clothing etc. Had positive dealings with them. Their main line should still be 031 736 8000.
Getting specialised material in SA is a proper pain. AliExpress or Alibaba will have options but shipping since 2020 is next level. I'd be curious as to why you want this material

I too have been searching for a local supplier without success.
The best option I have come across is to order from Rip Stop By The Roll and pay for the shipping to get it here:
ripstopbytheroll.com/
I want to make a super lightweight tent (like the Durston X-Mid 2 person tent coming in at around 1kg). I already have it designed but just need some tweaks before I spend a fortune to import enough Dyneema to make it - will obviously help to buy full rolls to make the R/m cost lower. I’m playing with the idea of possibly making multiple tents and then selling them to recover some of the material and shipping costs.
Anyone interested?

Replied by Papa Dragon on topic Dyneema
I can't seem to get the quote function to work correctly..
As far as I know Gelvenor has closed, and none of their products are available. Pity, because I used quite a bit of fabric from there for various projects.
Apparently there is an attempt to get it on the go again, but that's just hearsay, and nothing concrete at this stage..
Cheers

The Durston Xmid 2p Pro is made of dyneema and comes in at 580g. They don't have stock but this is the ultmate in luxury and lightweight. Price is around $670 which is pretty pricey.
What does your design look like? Would possibly be interested

The newer "Pro" is only a single wall tent. I designed my version on the normal 2P double wall version he has. Initial calcs of my design is under 1kg but slightly larger than his 2P tent (who doesn't want more space right?!).
Importing 1 full roll of Dyneema (enough to make 2 tents) is over R20k without shipping charges... plus add on extra for no-seeum mesh, zips, guy ropes etc plus sewing time. If I make 2 tents I can't see it costing under R15k each which is why I have been holding off.
Would love to just import one of his tents but they sold out in under 30 seconds the last time a batch was released. They are very popular but unobtainable - hence my idea of making my own but it ends up more expensive.

I tried to find a local DCF supplier, to get some patches from my tent-- even tried the sailing industry to no avail. I got patches from Zpacks (US) in the end.
They make a DCF ground sheet: zpacks.com/products/flat-groundsheet and also DCF bath tub floors.
