Western Cape Hiking - Snowy winter hike options was created by Frosty Ice
Hi All
So late last year I moved from JHB to CT and now find myself a bit far from the Berg. Although far closer to TM which has resulted in a lot of trad climbing...
I generally do two winter hikes a year which we try and time to ensure lots of snow when on the top.
Just wondering if anyone has done such a hike in the Western Cape and if so where, for how long and at what time of year.
Any mixed routes around here?
Thanks

I would also post this question on ClimbZA - there is a large following from the Western Cape community on that site.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Haven't been there myself but Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve seems to be the place for snow: www.matroosberg.com

Green Gullies on the Mostertshoek Twins in the Hex River Mountains is a great snow gully route in winter. Speak to the UCT Mountain & Ski Club for access.
