my cycling coach used to call it the puke interval - ride at over 400 watts (flat out!) for 2min then rest for 2. Repeat 3 times...

Yep....that's the idea. As you can see I'm not quite there yet, only 12 weeks out of knee surgery so things are coming along very slowly.

However TT times are dropping every time after such an interval session, it is extremely effective, thus my recommendation for hiking/climbing fitness work.

@ Stijn, agreed on the last sentence. :laugh:

I did my first night trail run last night. I can recommend this for hikers!

Kinetic Gear in JHB organise them once a month around various golf courses. The do a 4k and 8k run (better)and all you need is a head torch. It's well organised and they coped very well with around 700 runners.

My advise if you are a runner is get to the front at the start and stay there if you can as it's a lot less crowded. It's a very easy course but make sure your light is good. I had flattish batteries and got lost once then stepped in a hole and nearly bailed over.
