I never knew junk was such a problem. I assumed people wanting to climb the highest mountain on the earth respected and loved it!

Everest is the Chain Ladders of the Himalayas - you can practically be carried up to the top. Anyone with enough money and a relative level of fitness can stand on its summit.

Much like the Chain Ladders, when you combine people wanting an easy way to get impressive sounding bragging rights, you get litter, stupid mistakes and all the other problems that arise in such situations.

I would imagine that the likes of K2 etc probably don't have nearly the same level of problems.

Definitely not the case sadly enough. The litter at Camp 4 has been highlighted so many times over the years, but not enough people worried about it.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.
