I have done Kilimanjaro with Adventure Dynamics (Sean Disney) on two occasions (once as a guide). They are brilliant! They have a team in Tanzania that lead the actual trip unless you go on the premium package then they will send a SA guide. Their website is www.adventuredynamics.co.za/index_main.html

I can spot a hike report that is just over 2 years overdue

But anyway - tagging onto this post to avoid starting a new thread for this. I am heading up Kilimanjaro in Feb next year with a team to be lead by Malcolm Pearse's company, with summit day coinciding with full moon, so it should be pretty epic. This will be the Machame Route done over 7 days. If anyone is looking to join the team for this trip, feel free to contact me and I will put you in touch with Malcolm for details, or you can get in touch with his company directly from the website www.summitventures.co.za/

I have done Machame and it was a great route. The first day in the jungle is more enjoyable than I expected. Take a poncho for heavy rain as it's too hot for a jacket and gaitors for the mud which can get quite deep.

I also recommend a down jacket for summit night with really warm gloves. It's much colder than the Berg. I saw some people turn around due to the cold on our trip where it dropped to - 20 with wind chill...

Baranco valley is stunning and the lower parts of the breach wall lot's of fun to scramble on. Enjoy! :woohoo:
