Rempart Mountain, Mauritius

Anyone done Rempart Mountain in Mauritius? That's this one:

Google brings up a few bits of not overly helpful data. There is a video of the route, a writeup of a guy who bailed on the via ferrata section and some wikiloc tracks that claim to go up the mountain but aren't even close to the mountain*.

Can't find anything about access or the condition of the route, whether or not gear is required etc. The via ferrata looks old and rusted, so I am not sure how safe it is to use. Does anyone know anything helpful or can point me in the right direction?

*technically not a mountain as it isn't high enough

Well I'd call that a mountain if I ever saw one! "Business" trip coming up? ;)

Strava heat maps shows the route going to the summit. No GPS export, but you'll at least be able to plot it into Google Earth from that: www.strava.com/heatmap#15.00/57.43115/-20.30596/hot/run (switch on the satellite layer for best results)

It does seem like a rather epic peak. Kind of one of those ones that I would regret missing out on. It is 777m high, so depends on whose definition you use, I guess. Whatever it is classified as, the views should be worth the effort.

Hmmm - definitely a business trip. A "solo corporate retreat" - the story will probably end up somewhere online after it happens, and the mountain bits will probably end up on VE - so I won't give any spoilers just yet. But I'll put it this way: I live an hour from Durban beach and I haven't put my feet in the sea for about 6 years, so I'm not there for the beaches!

Awesome, thanks - that's perfect!

So 6 hours of trying - I came to the conclusion that this mountain is inaccessible without access to the game farm at the base. I tried various angles, and a lot of bundu-bashing through jungle. I eventually had to give up.

You can see that the via ferrata is still there - but no clue if it is still safe, seeing as it probably hasn't been ascended in years

The mountain as seen from below:

Even without being able to head up it, it is absolutely spectacular as seen from below. The road towards Flic-en-Flac goes right past it.

*spoiler alert* I will post a ton of writeups on my blog, and will post summaries of the mountain stories here. The story will include:
 - Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire
 - Le Morne
 - Le Pouce
 - Pieter Both
 - Lion Mountain
 - Bukit Timah
 - Mount Kinabalu
 - Mulu Pinacles
 - A lot of caves at Mulu
