Does anyone know where the name "Andre's Knob" came from? I have always assumed that it must be some random reference to something that happened there many years ago, but looking at a photo from www.berg.co.za (see below), I am starting to wonder if its name is specific to its shape...

Ja I've had some good chuckles with people about that one. No idea who named it that, and if Andre had anything to do with it. It is possible that at the time, the word "knob" didn't have the connotation it does today, in which case it was innocently named that. But then again, maybe not...

Well - on a different naming topic, I have found where the name of the Inner and Outer Horns come from. A picture explains it fairly well:

I always preferred to think of Andre's knob as a Byzantine/Ottoman mausoleum (there is one between St Sofia and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul that comes to mind, couldn't find a pic online though - I think its Sultan Mehmet II's tomb). Suleyman's Mosque gives an idea of my point from this particular angle:

Any name suggestions? Photo taken in the Mnweni Cutback, near the top of Hanging Valley Pass.

"How is it Hanging Peak"? The name referring to the location of the peak and its seemingly precarious position, of course.
