Let me see if I understand you correctly Mark T.

From the marker you posted (i.e. the pin location on the escarpment) I need to descend about 80 - 100m to the cave. Is it total distance to the cave or altitude drop of 80 - 100m? Also, walking down the gully, is the cave located on my left or right hand side?

It doesn't answer my first question (the answer to which will determine if I approach it from the bottom or the top of the pass), it does however conclusively answer my second question :-)

Hi Riaang

I just took a screen grab of those coords that MarkT put up plus here is a shot that i took of Intrepid climbing up that gully when he and I camped there in 2012. You can clearly see the peaks opposite the cave in both image and screengrab.

And yes, you don't want to go up and down the wrong one, it is rather steep and energy sapping.

Thanks Serious Tribe,

That big pyramid shaped rock on the northern side of Fangs is a dead giveaway as to the correct gully.
Now the mist must just stay away :-)

The slope leading up to Fangs Cave is littered with thistle like thorns. One of them very likely punctured my thermarest. Just a heads up that the cave itself likely has a fair few of the prickles lying around. They inevitably end up in socks and get picked off.
