Hi all, so I'm doing comrades in June and considering I have to drive from Joburg to Durban I'm seriously thinking of a nights camping somewhere in the berg.
So in terms of location I figure monks cowl is the least out of my way but I could be wrong here. I'm looking for a short easy hike to an overnight spot to camp and then return the next morning and continue my trip to Durban for number collection.
Any ideas are welcome, looking for a round trip with minimal elevation and preferably something less than 20km round trip

Either camp at Breakstream stream which is about 4km, or push onto the Blind Mans corner campsite (100m south of the T junction) which is 6km out

How about injisuthi up Van Heinegan and camp at the tarn at the top of the ridge. Amazing views, and you can even sit on the chair that I built.14km round trip. Though my end of June, thre might not be water in it

Wow these pictures are amazing, Thanks for the advice I'll definitely consider this. I think a winters sunset from your chair will be quite breathtaking.

As this is made using repurpsed Eland Fence poles that were dumped at or near the tarn, and is basically held together with opposing forces, sit with caution and all repairs are welcome.

Ditto to all comments on the Photos. Brings the mood, beauty and splendour of the Berg right in to my office. Love it
