Motorbikes on the Amphitheatre?

Can anyone with more evidence in the form of posts and pictures post them here please? Not the links (they become defunct the minute you post them) -  actual screengrabs etc. This discussion has become the de facto repository for the digital evidence.

The first photo shared by Stijn(excluding Ryan an Ryno) is at Mnweni.

The 2nd photo is at Namahadi, close to Afriski as Ryan says. Below photo is from google earth pic of view from Namahadi. So they are out of the traditional KZN drakensberg world heritage site area.
Even though they are probably within their rights, I do still take issue with the bikes being there...though that is just my personal opinion.

So we are all jumping to conclusion that the tenting pic was at Mnweni when in fact it was not. I realised this when I could not recognise the escarpment in the background.

The bikes are the same. Perhaps the guys on the bikes in Mnweni went on a free ride of their own accord out of the sphere of Ryan & Rynos mission. Either way, not cool to see bikes up there.

I am not very familiar with the Mweni escarpment but the picture with Ryan and Ryno looks to me to be looking out over the Woodstock dam which excludes Namahadi as a location? The picture showing the biker pointing also looks like one of the Mweni passes to me (Icidi perhaps?).

If indeed Namahadi it does not explain the bike tracks I saw in the Kubedu valley?

Can anyone with on site familiarity of the area assist?

Here is a screenshot of the Afriski enduro gps tracks. G3 is Namahadi where Ryan says he was.

Whether Afriski should ethically be offering enduro tracks in a sensitive mountain enviroment is something they should be challenged on as a resort.Notably the Khubedu valley is not on that track.

The fact remains that the bikes are the same in both the Namahadi pic and Mnweni pic.

Working of Google Earth the picture or Ryan and Ryno is indeed in the Namahadi area - in fact a peak towards the escarpment from Namahadi. The dam in te distance is probably Sterkfontein. So Ryan is correct here and less in the wrong considering the Afriski acitivities to this point.

The bike tracks in Kubedu and the hint by Stijn that they were resupplied at Rathole (any hard evidence of this fact other than the picture?) is the issue then. Should be reasonably easy to get the identity of the bikers from the bike number and the Facebook profile.

Suspicion comes from the fact that every image/post they have posted of bikes on the escarpment is quickly removed.
Looks like ducking and diving doesn't it?

The other thing that irks one so is that we all know how much looking becomes wanting and wanting becomes having. There are literally books written on fantasy and desire being locked into or born from spectacle, the thread about "Photography, imagery and Representation: Attitudes to the mountains" only began touching on it, but if you want to do yourself some brain hurt google-images "freedom girl" to see how images beget actions that want to be images.

The reason I thought they were at Rat Hole Cave was the post below, but perhaps that was just on a scouting mission?

The following photo looks like it’s at Rat Hole Cave as well, but seems to be at the wrong time of day to be on the attempt itself. Nevertheless, these guys took their bikes to the Mnweni escarpment at some point during the entire Navigate Lesotho project.

And if it's "allowed" on the enduro trails from Afriski, it's pretty much semantics as to whether the same thing can or can't be done across the rest of the Berg escarpment. The principle remains - either these areas are to be kept off-limits for motorised transport or it's pretty much a free-for-all and we can start adding an enduro category to the DGT FKT list

Ok thanks - this is the proof of what he has denied up to now. Unfortunately nothing more than environmental responsibility and consciousness  to work with as a basis for criticism from here on out. This could very well be the thin end of the wedge opening the Mweni cutback escarpment to Enduro riders. Mr. Sandes and Griesel's legacy to the mountains they proclaim to love so much.

People need to pile on social media, unfortunately that's the only thing that will actually get results. Make a comment on facebook, instagram on their socials and express yourselves.
