Hi Redhead
Are you talking about the escarpment or the lower sections?

Yea theres not very much data available for the escarpment, but I did manage to find some a few years ago on the old Afriski website. They listed the August average minimum temperature at -9°C at 3200m.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

I consider August to be a winter month as far as kit goes, redhead. Have even had some chilly, windy nights with patches of snow in September in which I was snug inside my winter bag.

Oh well , guess I'm going to have to lose 3kg's from around my waist to accommodate my extra winter gear. Thanks intrepid for the advice.
