Hi Team of sleuths.
Perhaps you can put your collective brains together.
I am trying to determine 'almost' exactly where I was when I took these. In my mind and looking from the topography it was from my Mweni trip to Mponjwane Cave. I am assuming that Mponjwane Tower is behind me and that I can't be far from the cave. In the one with the hiker, rockeries looks like it is the mid rhs. Could someone confirm this. Amazing how time plays tricks on the mind. I never make notes, I suppose because I always expect to remember exactly where I was when I took the shot.

Game on!
And awesome photos by the way!
I reckon in your first shot, you're standing where the subject of this photo is standing. It's a buttress which juts out just NW of the rocky band in which Mponjwane Cave sits (where the photo was taken from). Your 2nd photo is probably from the "saddle" between that buttress and the rest of the escarpment?

Lol, not every day that you see a post about a photo that is on the cover of one of your favourite books!

Yes I thought this would get a bit of chuckle from the forum
After all, you would think that I should know better
Thanks Stijn and a gr8 cloudscape image. I have only had this situation once or twice in the berg.
@Ghaznavid which book are you talking about? I know that the image was used for a cover, I just can't remember which as I don't have a copy of it.

It probably is from that buttress Stijn was talking about, since there are not a lot of other options. There is a summit directly above Mponj Cave but I have photos from there in the same direction and its definitely not from there.
The pic with the hiker on it is the cover page of one of the versions of Bristow's Drakensbergs Walks.
Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Yes, that all seems correct.Serious tribe wrote: Hi Team of sleuths.

Thanks guys. I have had a look at images from John and Malcolm's books and it looks like i am almost opposite mponjwane. It is just amazing how I don't remember actually scrambling up and down this area to the shots. Looks like I will have to visit it soon to refresh my memory!
