In memory of John Hone

Very sad news.

I first met John when he showed his incredible work in a 'moving' slideshow at the Westville Hall. When somebody does something with passion it is a palpable thing. You can see it in the reaction of the people who truly understand, and the expression on the faces of those who are experiencing it for the first time.
John could do that.
Republishing The Barrier of Spears, as well as his own book Encounters with The Dragon, has left all of us richer for it.
I always meant to meet Mr R.O Pearce. But when you are young you imagine that we all live forever, and then they are gone.
That made me determined to meet men who have made a difference, and really lived life, in my generation. I am glad John was one of them.

When we saw John recently he was upbeat and excited about his move to Underberg. I am happy for you that you could do that John. To look on a view that you love, every day.

Thank you for the words you wrote. They mean all that much more to me now.

Lala kahle! John.
