Accomondation - on way to Cathedral Peak was created by Tray
Hi all,
I am taking a total group of 8 friends up the berg in the Cathedral Peak area at the end of July 2012. Some of the guys in the group are travelling great distances to the berg and want somewhere to stay the night before we start the hike. They preferably want something not expensive, but that has a bed / good bathroom facilities. We will be starting the hike at 06:30am the next day so preferably quite close to possibly Drakensberg side of Winterton / Berville so we don't have to leave too early. It really is meant to be stop over, quick stay.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have looked on the net, but everything is focussed on tourist / hotels and is not really useful.

Hi
Try Amphitheatre Backpackers about 20min from Bergville:
www.amphibackpackers.co.za/
or Purple House which is in Winterton:

Also check the Central Drakensberg Info Centre:

Amphitheatre backpackers is great. Can be full, so book in advance. Landline 036-438-6675
Bingelele is a B&B just North of Bergville, also excellent. Call landline 036-448-1336 or Paula and Josh 083-627-8503

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

I use Purple House in Winterton or Bergville Caravan Park quite a bit. Both are affordable, and are flexible with times.
