Crash site is reported as 3 313m (nearly 10 870 feet). That sounds very high and v.v.close to the Dak ceiling.

The summit of Mafadi is at 3450m which is about 11319 feet and Thabana Ntlenyana is at 3482m, which is about 11424 feet. If the Dakota's ceiling is 11500 feet, is it not a bit dicey to fly over the Drakensberg??

This was taken at Waterkloof show 22 Sept 2012. It is the support plane for the Sivler Falcons. I think there may only be one painted like that.

Giant's is just at the corner of the deviation which would avoid the high Berg in an otherwise straight line flight from Waterkloof to Mthatha.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Sad that. Been plenty of those workhorses down over the years though, with plenty crew too.
Condolences to the squadron. They have done a lot of work with MCSA over the years. Now the guys have to search for their own.
Looks like they went straight in so it would have been quick.
