We will wade in when we believe we can have the most impact and will support other initiatives as well. We have our own plan as well and may well seek to consolidate support if it is thought to be valid, We are busy researching at the moment.

Good to hear

The tender for the EIA is attached. In the same paper as the MEC's press release (17 or 18 May?)

no4stopper, thanks for the updates. These smaller articles from The Mercury are no longer being published online on IOL, I will have to subscribe to the digital edition.

JustinB: funding for the Community Conservation Area (CCA) is a challenge that is being looked at. What I can say is that a website is in the making which is all about the CCA - hopefully that will be ready soon.

The Avaaz campaign was specifically and officially initiated on behalf of the AmaZizi Traditional Authority. It is their campaign - that already was their call to the world to help.

You can help by getting signatures for the campaign.

These are their two official statements:

In a response to the DA's criticism, the DEDTEA has now said that "critics would not be excluded from the proposed conference" and that "Everyone is welcome at the table of ideas".

A recent mailing from MCSA - KZN Section

If anyone is interested in participating contact Gavin Heath This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Dear members of the KZN section of the MCSA / VE

Please contact me if you are interested in participating in a research exercise aimed at identifying the views of a selected mountain user group (i.e., you) towards the suitability of a proposed cableway development in the northern KZN Drakensberg. I will then send you a questionnaire. All responses will be treated anonymously, and the name of the club and section will not be referred to in any way at the Mountains of Our Future Earth Conference in Perth, Scotland in October. I am hoping for about 40 to 50 respondents so your willingness to participate will be hugely appreciated.

Regards,
Gavin

From the MCSA - KZN Section

Dear members

At the moment I have 12 returned questionnaires with another two about to be returned. I desperately need another sixteen (although more would be preferred) so that my sample is representative (30 is a good number for research purposes). It will only take 2 or 3 minutes to fill out the questionnaire. I look forward to hearing from you, and this is your chance to be heard (although your confidentiality is assured) on a vitally important topic facing a mountain range that is integral to our identity as a mountain user group and that is also literally on our doorstep.

Regards,

Gavin

Hi fellow mountain people

I did this questionnaire the other day and it is very quick and easy, even if like me you have a lot to say!

Please help Gavin with this.

Thanks

I would be willing to fill out the questionnaire, if it is open to non-MCSA members.
How do I go about it?
