Pools along the Mnweni Valley
The official Mnweni Pools are technically in the Chakide (Icidi) River, but right at the junction with the Mnweni. Among the homesteads is a set called the Embezeni Pools. The ones near Mlambu's now disused kraal do not officially have a name, and may be referred to as "Mlambu's Pools" for the time being.
This information comes from a pretty extensive collective knowledge of the area, which includes what the Mnweni mountain guides say.
There are other sets along the valley, but the three indicated above are the ones deemed appropriate for hikers to visit and to swim in. And they are lovely pools indeed!

This photo, from Malcolm Pearse's website, is what I have always thought of as Mnweni Baths - mainly on account of R.O. Pearse and Malcolm Pearse's writing.
Do these map onto Mlambu's Pools?

There is also a pool in the opposite direction to what I was facing in this photo - this is Mnweni Pools, right?

I always thought Mlambu's Pools were the Mnweni Pools since the official ones are technically not in the Mnweni River. But I am going with what some Mnweni sages are saying about this. Even this discussion shows how unclear the matter is, and I hope we have gotten it right this time
Ghaz, your second pic does seem to fit the bill for the Mnweni Pools since the view is straight up to Icidi Pass.
There are three of Sterkhorn's photos of the Mnweni Pools in the gallery, starting from here:

And yes, Mnweni Pools are behind you in the second photo as that's Icidi Pass up ahead.

We have spent a few nights camping out under that rock overhang on separate trips (3rd night of a 4 day Mnweni circuit). The rock slides in the waterfall just up from the main falls to the left of the person with the red bag, are good fun in summer. You can jump down into the pools right at the point of the photo but I've never been down the big waterfall.

As to which set of pools was the "official" set among hikers still remains unclear - it appears the confusion has existed for some time.

Related to the proliferation of names is the multitude of paths across such regions - many of them discontinuous. We discussed this a few months ago in Tony's post:

I've noticed the same thing in rainforest mountains in Tanzania and Kenya. Just when you expect there to be one well developed track going up a mountain into dense forest, you instead find many paths with none lasting the course. In these places (e.g. Namanga on the Kenya/Tanz border) place names are surprisingly fluid too.
Perhaps the power and necessity of maps is what leads us to think about landscapes in different ways from those who have no need for them. In the same way that there was no need for a nationally defined clock before the first railways.

You can't book caves at all in Mnweni, might be safer taking a tent as backup, each area does have more than 1 cave option so you could take the chance
There are 3 caves in the valley below Rockeries Pass
