Hi!
My husband and I are avid hikers but we have a baby now so we forced to take a break for a while.
We're just going camping for a few days in the 'berg. We're 90% sure that we want to camp at Injisuthi but I was wondering how the camp ground there compares to the camping at monk's cowl? There's very little info on the camping at Injisuthi. Does anyone have more hints or info for me about the camp site? And what are the best, short, hikes to do around there, especially to streams or pools?
Thanks!

Hi Roz
Welcome to VE and congrats on the baby!
I think I am correct in saying that the campsite at Injasuthi doesn't have demarcated sites, like Monk's Cowl has. Just one big open lawn.
I think that's correct, I haven't actually camped there, but I have seen it.
Lots of good walks in the area, rivers, caves, pools etc.

Hi Roz
Injisuthi is beautiful and the campsite is nice and neat. You will certainly enjoy camping there. The ablutions are also very good and kept clean. The area offers loads of day hikes so you will find plenty to do. I suggest enquiring at the reception as they can explain better in person than we can on here I think. You won't be dissapointed. With your baby just lookout for baboons around the campsite. They are more active around the lower slopes and camps because of the drought. Just be vigilant and enjoy.

Hi Roz,
Some more specific info on camping at Injasuthi. Looking through my picture folders we have camped there about 18 time since 2005. It is correct that there are no designated sites. The campsite is effectively divided in two by a stream. The upper area has a large ablution, in the middle of the pic, with separate male and female toilets and showers and dish washing up and laundry room. The ladies also has a bath which is a must with babies and small children. The campsites are quite uniform with grassy sections between giving privacy but there is very little shade. I would recommend this area, we are camped just to the right of the ablutions and have never camped in the other area.
The lower side of the camp , in the foreground has more shade but less defined and sometimes irregular sites and a unisex shared shower facility and washing up area, the small building to the left up against the bank.
There is no electricity to the sites, but there is generator lighting in the ablutions till 10 pm.
I think this area offers the best and most varied day walks of any berg camp and we have camped here for up to 10 days.
There is a small shop at the reception, but sometimes stocks are very scant.
I hope this helps. If you need more info feel free to PM me.
