Hospitalspruit.

Just wondering, does anyone know the origin of the name Hospitalspruit?
Seems a bit out of the way for there to have been a hospital there, unless it was a field hospital.
Any idea?

My unqualified but calculated guess would be that the spruit was the location of a military or civilian field hospital in the voortrekker days or maybe not that far back, could be in the anglo boer war time.
