Does anybody know what the availability of water is like on the Mlambondja pass and summit?

Are you planning on ascending or descending Mlambonja pass?

The river on the escarpment is about 500m or so from the top of the pass, with roughly a 100m altitude difference. I've always been able to find water here, at worst there were pools of water available, at best the river was flowing nicely.

Descending down the pass the first section till you get into the kloof section is typically dry. Once you start entering the dense vegetation there is usually water. At best you'll typically find water at around 2600m asl, at worst at 2200m asl.

Enjoy!!!

Hi Leeuw,

We went up Langies last weekend and there was sufficient water all the way from the camp to the start of the ridge, and then again at the waterfall on langies there was a bit of water. Then, at the top there were lots of water. We didn't venture further south than Bannermans cave, instead we went north to Giants pass. We found water in all the valleys, but it wasn't flowing everywhere, there were stagnant pools forming.

So, there is water, but it is slowly becoming scarcer. I would advise taking some sort of water purification system along (drops, pills, Uv etc.) should you be forced to collect water from stagnant pools.

Enjoy!!!

There is water in this valley opposite Pins Pass, at about this point 28°53'36.20"S 28°57'55.39"E. There is water in the Hanging Valley near this point, 28°54'20.18"S 28°59'18.91"E. And there is water in the main valley between Mweni and Rockeries Pass. So more than enough water, hope this helps.
