How did you get your forum user name?
He died when I was 6 so never asked him why!

What I am really curious to know is how tonymarshall came up with his name! I've been too shy to ask until now.
By the way, it is possible to change your username by updating your profile.

I used the same name I had used for the climb.co.za site. The actual name was probably the same as the one I used to log on to my work PC at the client I was based at the time.
What is interesting though is that on climb.co.za, the userid is case sensitive. So, AndrewP is not the same as andrewp.
I found this out the hard way. One day I made a post suggesting that I had by now spent several years trying to get up a hard and scary climb in the Magaliesberg kloofs, and that I was tired of taking big falls off the crux move onto small, fiddly gear. I suggested that I use an angle grinder to grind out a massive slot where I could place a hand sized and bomber cam.
Needless to say this caused a bit of an outcry, and it turns out that another climber Andrew Pedley (user name is andrewp) was told by friends of his they would throw a brick through his window. (It all got sorted out fine)

Just to clarify - you were joking, right? I think half of VE would also put a brick through your car window if you did that

All of this is a joke of course.

Somewhere along the line one of the boys called "Dragon come in, this is Night Hawk".
This stuck for the duration, and being dad I became Papa Dragon. My daughter, who took a bit of strain, Winded Dragon. 2 sons Night Hawk Bravo and Night Hawk Golf, and eldest daughter's boyfriend who defected to Night Hawk, Night Hawk Private??
Corny, but fun at the time

All of this is referring to Crystal Fire in Mhlabatini Kloof, which is a mere 10 minute drive from Rustenberg. I am so glad you are leading the crux pitch this weekend
@ Jonathan
At the time there was a big scene going on about a nut hat had been hammered into place on table mountain. So, I actually suggested using various means to not only angle grind a slot for a gear placement, but an entirely new kloof. Nobody had a long enough power cord, so the plan had to be put on hold.
