Tents

I'm not sure if this is the best remedy, but there is such a thing as seam sealer. I've got a bottle without a label...if I remember correctly it was Coglans. You smear it onto the stitching and it soaks in. So you could remove the loose seam tape and try that sealer. I'd do it on both sides, but take care not to smear it on too thickly cause it may make the seam quite stiff.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Hi thanks,

Will look for it... A bit skri for those stroms and weerlig.. but we will keep as low as we can go!! A tad hard on the escarpment, but we will find suitable spots to pitch tents.

Since I only heard good things about the 360 degrees (in this thread) I'm leaning towards the 360 degrees Summit 3 instead of the Cool Mountain 2 Extreme. We will be 2 of us mostly using the tent.

Has anyone experienced any leakage or was let down by theirs?

Thanx

J

I've got a brand new K-way Annapurna tent I want to sell for R3000 if anyone is interested.

Only put up in the yard for a few minutes.

Has anyone got any experience with Vango tents? Especially the Spirit 200? Or perhaps the Hurricane?

Do yourself a favour and check out this tent 'in the flesh'. Especially pay close attention to the poles, I think they are very flimsy. Also it only has two or three guylines. It seems very well sewn and incrediby waterproof, but the poles...

Thanx for that info on the 360 degrees Bigseb. Don't think I would have actually bought it though. Have gone back & checked it again (after I posted here) & you are right on the issue of it being flimsy.

Bethlehem-Free State, but travelling to Jhb & the berg quite often. Can also arrange courier if you keen?

I see the Vango Spirit tent is very much the same concept of the Hilleberg Nallo. Also weighs in at 2.4kg which isn't bad.

Spoke to my wife and she isn't keen. Reckons the i7 gaming rig I bought me for Christmas as enough for a while...

Haha-yeah we can't just buy before consulting our better halves, can we?

It's OK, there's no rush. Let me know if you might be keen later on...

I have a Hilleberg Nallo 2 which I bought in Germany in 1992. It has generally done regular trips covering desert, snow, rock, heavy rain, howling wind and good whisky - still going strong. Mine is just over 2kg which almost makes it doable for 1 person. Space is good for 2 if you aren't a yak (i.e. travel light). Will have no hesitation in buying another Nallo.
