Hi There

I'm looking at getting a North Face Meso 22 (DueSouth)as a lightweight solo tent.Could anyone advise if they have had any issues with this model.

regards Mike

I will be watching this one with interest, i just got myself one, i have only set it up in the garden but it does look good, the weight is also very good for what you pay.It remains to be seen how good the backup service will be for the spares though.

Any specfic reason your getting a 2 man tent if it's exclusively for solo use? I know some people like the "extra" space but you could go lighter and tighter.

I take it you have done your research already, below are just some alternatives:

www.mountainhardwear.com/Sprite%E2%84%A2-1/OU9481,default,pd.html
www.mountainhardwear.com/LightPath%E2%84%A2-2/OU9484,default,pd.html

Even cheaper alternatives:

www.rammountain.co.za/gear.php?catid=190&subcatid=&prodid=853
www.rammountain.co.za/gear.php?catid=190&subcatid=&prodid=499

In any event, That northface tent is a pretty serious tent either way.
If you decide to get it please let us know how she holds up, Im almost due for a replacement too

/L

I would give the Hilleberg Nallo 2 a good look over too. Very similar weight and size. I have had outstanding service from mine for nearly 20 years.

So ended up getting it. Was quite light and compact to carry , easy to errect & take down. The evening was misty & a fair amount of due had gathered on the fly interior by morning ,but no water made it into the tent. There is one grey loop at base (middle) of the exterior fly that one would think is for a peg - but it comes with no cord in it.Purhaps its just an optional anchor point? All in All i was pretty impressed with it.

Thanks redhead. Be encouraged to let us know how it handles the freeze and glow-and-blow seasons later in the year. Will be good to know. Have only seen the Meso in shops, so will be good to record some real performance.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

I wonder what is the main difference between the 360 Degress Lightweight 2 (Outdoor Warehouse) and the K-Way Treklite 2? The price is almost double...the 360 Degress Lightweight 2 is a light tent...especially when you are only using in the little berg and your kids are carrying it :-) and I had a good look at one today and not bad for the price.
