Escarpment pools

We all know of plenty of great small Berg pools - but escarpment pools close to the edge seem to be pretty rare (for obvious reasons). When a group of us hiked down the Langalibalele River earlier in the year we came across numerous great pools. I imagine this applies to most rivers on top - but what I am interested in is how many great escarpment pools we have info on that are close to the escarpment edge.

For example - I am aware of 3:

The best one I know of is the one just south of the Ndumeni Dome:

Much smaller, but I have never seen it in the wet season, is the pool on the north slopes of the Long Wall ridge:

And of course there are the Yodeller’s Cascades:

I would be interested to hear about ones that everyone else knows of.

Champagne Castle near the top of Grays Pass - great for a cool off swim (in summer ;) )

There is a pretty big pool down in the big valley between Fangs and Rwanqa. Just South of Nguza are a set of small pleasant pools with good places for camping nearby too. I think I remember some nice looking pools (though not too big) a little bit into Lesotho from the top of Organ Pipes Pass.

Yoddler's Cascades, and the one already mentioned on the way to Yoddlers from Ndumeni are definitely personal favourites of mine.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

That last one makes a pretty good ice rink in Winter too as it's in the shade for most of the day!

Thanks Tony!

The pool just above the escarpment waterfall.

Thanks Ghaz.

That's the pool in the stream flowing below Injisuthi Summit Cave, immediately above the escarpment waterfall. A pool with a view, although not as good a view as from elinda's pool above Didima Falls.
